Compare prediction markets by product, rules and cost

Compare the exact event product, winning-payoff units and settlement rule. Kalshi and Polymarket US are separate US-dollar paths; Novig is sports-focused. International Polymarket is context, not a US trading alternative.

Compare exact products, then settlement rules

Kalshi and Polymarket US support a US-dollar contract research path; Novig’s documented game/futures schedules use one-cent payout units. International Polymarket is separate context with US restrictions. IBKR is a broker access route whose contract-specific consumer commission evidence is incomplete here.

Which platform belongs on your shortlist?

Kalshi is a broad event-contract venue; Polymarket US combines a dollar-based order book with sports, politics, economics and other event markets; Novig concentrates on sports. A sports-focused interface is useful when you want sports-market depth. A broader catalogue is useful when your research spans economic announcements and other events. None is a universal winner.

Polymarket international is a separate crypto-based product. Its official geographic document lists the US among jurisdictions where new positions are restricted. It is not a substitute US onboarding route.

What the same 100-contract example costs

For 100 contracts at $0.50, the entry stake is $50. Kalshi’s general taker formula with multiplier 1 gives $1.75; Polymarket US’s standard taker formula gives $1.7375, collected as $1.74 using its cent-rounding rule. Novig’s documented live game coefficient of 0.06 gives $1.50. These are schedule examples, not executable quotes or proof that the underlying markets are equivalent.

The rules can matter more than a small fee difference

Read the exact observation window, resolution source and exceptional settlement provisions. Polymarket US explicitly allows alternative settlement where contract rules specify it. Novig documents win/loss, push and fair-market-value grades, including remediation. A similar title does not establish the same payoff.

An order book also makes size relevant. An available price may cover only part of your order; a resting order may never fill. Include spread, entry and exit charges, funding and withdrawal costs rather than treating the execution fee as the whole price.

Identity, funding and practical fit

Polymarket US documents identity verification before deposits or trading, and supports US-specific bank, card and other funding methods. Kalshi’s published schedule distinguishes free ACH from card and processor costs. Novig’s public trading documentation establishes its present fee mechanics; a complete current consumer-state list and funding schedule were not established by that document. That narrower access gap is separate from the verified trading-fee answer.

Read the product profiles for costs, funding, settlement and limitations. These comparisons use published documentation, not deposits, trading performance or withdrawal speed tests.

Compare the rule, observation and dispute path

Two contracts can mention the same release and still describe different claims. A hypothetical “payrolls above 150,000 on initial release” differs from “payrolls at least 150,000 after revision”. At exactly 150,000 the strict threshold fails and the inclusive threshold can succeed. Neither wording grants us permission to invent the merchant’s dispute policy.
