Polymarket US review: dollar accounts, funding and contract costs

A documentation-based assessment of the US product: what identity checks precede trading, how cleared withdrawals work, and what a standard contract costs. International wallet instructions do not apply.

Which product is this review about?

This page evaluates polymarket.us and its US-dollar account. If you arrived looking for the international wallet-based service, the linked US-versus-international guide explains the distinction; its terms and fee schedules are not this review’s evidence. A generic “Polymarket review” search can refer to either product, so identify the domain before following account or funding instructions.

For the documented US standard 100-contract example, compare $51.74 entry outlay with $100 or $0 settlement. The account guide’s identity checks and original-source withdrawal rules are practical reasons to inspect this product separately. This is a published-document assessment, not a deposit, execution or support benchmark.

What the US product offers

Polymarket US describes a US-dollar central limit order book for event contracts, operating as a designated contract market and derivatives clearing organisation under CFTC oversight. Its documentation lists sports, politics, economics, crypto, weather, technology and culture markets. That is a different system from its international crypto-based namesake.

It is useful to readers who want to research a defined event and understand order-book prices. A market price conveys expectations; it does not establish the event’s actual probability or remove the risk of total loss on a contract.

Account and funding workflow

The sign-up guide documents Google/Apple sign-in, date of birth, phone verification, legal name, residential address and Social Security number. Additional government ID/selfie checks may be required. KYC precedes deposits and trading.

Documented funding methods include debit card, ACH, Apple Pay, PayPal, Venmo, wire and USDC on iPhone where available. Bank/card funds typically clear in 3–4 business days and wires in one. Buying power before clearance is not withdrawable cash; withdrawals return to original funding sources in FIFO order.

The trading cost

Standard taker fee = 0.0695 × C × p × (1−p), rounded to the nearest cent using half-to-even. At 100 contracts and $0.50, that is $1.74 collected. Table Tennis and combo schedules differ. Maker Tier 1 has no maker rebate; higher tiers and taker rebates have their own qualifying volume rules.

A 100-contract winning $100 settlement after a $50 stake and $1.74 entry fee yields $48.26 before other charges. A losing settlement loses $51.74. Neither number includes an assumed early exit or rebate.

Settlement and account limits

Standard winning contracts settle at $1 and losing ones at zero, but market rules can specify alternative settlement. Confidential-information and outcome-influence restrictions apply to trading; professional or event connections can create additional limits.

The published documents support the described mechanics. We have not funded an account or tested support, and the sources do not establish every state/contract combination. For a US reader, this product’s documentation is the relevant starting point; international account instructions do not apply.
