Flex and Stax: what the official comparison actually distinguishes
Ledger’s own comparison, updated October 16 and retrieved October 25, 2026, cites Flex at $249 and Stax at $399. The $150 difference is a dated article-price comparison, not a verified checkout quote. Regional taxes, shipping, bundles and later price changes can alter the final purchase cost.
Flex has a 2.8-inch flat E Ink touchscreen; Stax has a 3.7-inch curved E Ink touchscreen and a customisable spine. Both are described with Bluetooth and NFC. Stax supports Qi wireless charging; the comparison says Flex does not. Stax magnets support stacking devices, while Flex magnets attach accessories. These are specific model distinctions, not a claim that every Nano model has a touch display or wireless connection.
| Model | Price cited by official comparison | Consequential difference |
|---|---|---|
| Ledger Flex | $249 USD | 2.8-inch flat E Ink; no Qi charging |
| Ledger Stax | $399 USD | 3.7-inch curved E Ink; Qi charging and stacking |

Setup, compatibility and recovery limits
Start with Ledger’s official setup page for the exact device and application, verify the model and asset/network support, and inspect the transaction details on the device before approving. Bluetooth support alone does not prove every operation is supported on every phone or operating-system version. The comparison’s common-screen features do not establish compatibility with every token, third-party application or network.
Ledger warns it will never ask for the 24 words of a recovery phrase. Keep recovery material offline and never enter it into this publication, a shared scenario or an unsolicited support form. Losing the device and losing the recovery material are distinct failures. An optional recovery service is a separate entitlement and set of trust/identity terms; it is not a brand-wide guarantee that anyone can recover every account.
The large-screen choice is primarily about reviewing and confirming transaction information under the documented model features. We did not test a device, recovery procedure, firmware or third-party application. Merchant claims that no signer has been hacked are not reproduced as our security finding. This guide compares published model facts rather than assigning a security or return score.

The product’s job
Ledger’s official site describes hardware wallets and a companion app for supported cryptoasset management. A hardware signer’s purpose differs from a centralised exchange account: it helps authorise transactions using device-held key material. It does not itself hold a US event-contract account or guarantee recovery.
Model, asset and network support matter. A supported token name on one chain is not proof that every network representation can be received or spent through the selected model/application.

Relevance and review limits
This is secondary research for a spot-crypto reader deciding about supported withdrawals and custody. It is not a prerequisite for using this publication or a route to trade restricted event products. We inspected public product information without conducting a device recovery exercise or independent security audit.

Compare a different model family before purchase
Flex/Stax are this guide’s exact models; Trezor Safe 3/Safe 5 offer a separate interface and compatibility comparison. Dated specifications do not establish recovery success or eliminate custody risk.
