Simple buy and sell pricing
Coinbase’s public disclosure says fees are calculated when an order is placed and depend on payment method, order size, market conditions, jurisdiction, asset and other execution costs. Simple buys/sells and conversions include a spread in the quoted price. The order preview exposes the spread and fees.
The same document lists a separate 1% execution fee for simple limit buys/sells, with a possible additional 1.875% Coinbase fee depending on payment method. That is simple-limit pricing, not a universal Advanced fee. Where that published regional schedule applies, a $1,000 simple limit order has a $10 execution charge plus any separately applicable Coinbase fee and spread.

Advanced: the tier at order placement matters
Advanced does not add a Coinbase spread because users interact with its order book. This does not eliminate the market’s bid/ask spread. Immediately matched orders pay taker rates; resting orders pay maker rates when matched. A partially matched order can incur both on its respective portions.
The help page directs customers to sign in to see the current Fees, Tier requirements and Stablecoin pairs tabs. It describes the most favourable qualifying volume/balance criterion, and separate product/pair schedules. It does not publish one universal numeric rate. The rate in force when you order applies, not a tier reached after that trade.

Cash out and crypto withdrawal costs
Adding cash and cashing out can carry payment-method fees. External crypto sends use an estimate of network transaction costs; Coinbase can batch transfers and the final network cost need not match the estimates summed across customers. Transfers between Coinbase primary balances are described as free.
The reviewed disclosure separately lists a 0.2% Lightning send processing charge and 0.01% USDT withdrawal processing charge capped at 20 USDT, with a separate network charge for the latter. Those method-specific figures must not become a generic withdrawal percentage.

Build a complete comparison
For a $1,000 purchase, enter the execution fee actually shown by the chosen interface, then add funding cost, spread and intended withdrawal charge. If an Advanced quote is $6, $6 is your scenario input—not a rate established by this article. Compare against a numeric competitor schedule under the same assumptions.
Coinbase One’s zero-trading-fee benefit has limitations: the disclosure says spread can remain, DEX service fees can remain and the 1% simple-limit execution fee is not included in the waiver. A subscription label is not proof of zero all-in cost.

Choose the payment action before estimating cost
A US bank method can support a deposit without supporting the same cash-out speed. Coinbase Advanced’s account tier and simple-buy quote are distinct. For crypto withdrawals, compare network, asset minimum and the final recipient amount shown before confirmation.
| Action | Cost input | Do not assume |
|---|---|---|
| Simple buy | Disclosed quote fee and spread | Advanced rate applies |
| Advanced order | Your displayed maker/taker tier | A public universal entry rate |
| Cash out | Supported payment method and displayed fee | Funding fee equals withdrawal fee |
| Send crypto | Final network / service quote | Network cost is a fixed universal amount |

Network withdrawal charges are not execution fees
A crypto withdrawal may combine a service charge and a network estimate; a cash-out uses a bank/payment rail instead. Compare the final asset quantity received, the supported network and any minimum. A $1,000 purchase followed by a $5 hypothetical withdrawal costs a different proportion than a $100 purchase with the same $5 charge. Do not compare only a percentage execution fee.
| Synthetic purchase | Fixed $5 exit charge as percentage |
|---|---|
| $100 | 5% |
| $1,000 | 0.5% |
| $10,000 | 0.05% |
