Kraken fees: instant purchases versus Pro spot

The reviewed schedule lists instant trading fees, Pro tiers, spread and funding separately. Here is how to put them on the same basis.

Instant purchases and Kraken+

The published schedule lists 1% trading fees for instant/recurring trades and 1.5% for custom orders, plus spread and possible payment fees. For $1,000 that is $10 or $15 before those additions. Small balance conversions have a separate fixed 3% charge.

Kraken+ waives certain instant trading fees up to $10,000 monthly volume in the specified major currencies. The benefit does not apply to Pro spot, futures, API or OTC trades, and spread/card-processing charges still apply. Subscription cost must be considered separately.

Cost stack: funding, execution, spread, exit and withdrawal are separate inputs.

Kraken Pro spot tiers

The reviewed spot table lists Tier 1 at 0.40% maker and 0.80% taker; Tier 2 begins at $2,500 qualifying spot volume with 0.30%/0.60%. Tier 3 lists $10,000 volume or $20,000 assets on platform, with 0.22%/0.38%. The schedule says the most favourable qualifying volume or asset measure determines the tier.

For a $1,000 order at Tier 1, maker cost is $4 and taker cost $8. At Tier 3 the corresponding values are $2.20 and $3.80. Stablecoin/pair and other product schedules can differ; these are spot-table examples, not futures or margin rates.

US deposits and withdrawal holds

The US deposit table lists ACH via Plaid: $1 minimum, free deposit, near-instant trading availability, seven-day withdrawal hold. Debit-card deposits list a $10 minimum and $0.25 + 3.75%; a $1,000 deposit therefore has a $37.75 listed deposit charge before trading costs.

The listed FedWire provider shows $1 minimum, no Kraken deposit fee and 0–1 business-day processing, subject to availability. Your bank can still charge a wire fee. Crypto withdrawal and cash-out costs are method/asset-specific and disclosed in the account; they are separate from this deposit table.

Arrival, trade and release are separate times

Track the payment method’s arrival time, any trading restriction, and the later withdrawal release separately. A successful deposit does not by itself remove a method-specific hold. The reviewed cash route examples below remain inside the withdrawal section rather than a universal timing promise.

Withdrawals: cash route, crypto network and holds

The cash-withdrawal table, updated September 28, 2026 and retrieved October 25, lists US ACH at a $1 minimum, no Kraken withdrawal fee and 0–2 business days (2 PM Eastern cutoff). Listed US FedWire providers have a $20 minimum, $4 fee and 0–1 business-day estimate. RTP lists a $20 minimum and 1.50% fee capped at $50; the receiving bank must support RTP. Provider and region restrictions apply. These are estimated processing windows, not a tested service guarantee.

The crypto-withdrawal source states that each asset/network has a minimum and fee, that the table can differ from the account, and that confirmation shows the final fee. Choose the asset and exact network in the withdrawal screen, check minimum and fee before confirming, and verify the receiving wallet supports that network. A “Bitcoin withdrawal fee” cannot be inferred from the USD ACH row.

For $1,000 of base-tier Pro taker trading funded by free ACH and cashed out by the listed free ACH route, the example execution cost remains $8 before spread and price changes. Choosing the listed $4 wire withdrawal makes the included cost $12. Card funding at $37.75 plus that execution and wire withdrawal makes $49.75. This assumes available cleared funds; ACH/Plaid deposits have a seven-day withdrawal hold. Certain purchases can also trigger 72-hour holds.

Product availability and comparison

Kraken’s geographic support page lists Maine and New York as unsupported US residences in the reviewed text, and US fiat funding is restricted to USD. Other product and asset restrictions coexist; an available spot account does not make every Kraken product available.

Compare an identical asset, interface, order type and funding route. A $37.75 card-funding charge can overwhelm a few dollars of maker/taker savings. This guide is based on published schedules, not an account or withdrawal-speed test.
