What this demonstrates
Trezor's step-by-step Safe 5 setup in Trezor Suite: seal check, firmware install, authenticity check, a single-share 20-word backup, PIN and coin selection.
- If a brand-new Safe 5 says firmware is already installed, the presenter calls that a red flag and says to contact Trezor before going further (about 1:54 to 2:05).
- Trezor Suite offers single-share or multi-share backup. The video uses single-share, which gives 20 words, and stresses keeping them physical and offline, never digital (about 2:34 to 3:30).
- The PIN is set after the backup, entered on the device; the presenter recommends at least six digits and warns against simple patterns or personal numbers (about 4:34 to 5:00).
- A passphrase is optional. It opens a separate hidden wallet on top of the 20-word backup, and you alone are responsible for keeping that word safe (about 5:25 to 5:58).
- Before receiving funds, check the address on the device: the presenter says the device's screen is more trustworthy than the computer it is plugged into (about 6:01 to 6:25).
Apply it to your task
- Check the box seals before connecting the device.
- Stop and contact Trezor if a new device reports firmware already installed.
- Write the backup words on paper only; never photograph them.
